Im currently considering, to try Space cowboy online, but I don't know if it's worth it; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ajry7q_SV8
I also sort of enjoy Dofus. It's kinda cute(www.dofus.com)

Only decent free MMORPG I've played is Anarchy Online.
It's free to play from when I last played, but you only could play the "basic" game without expansions, but there were always people to play with and was pretty heavily populated.

I've played Silkroad and Maple Story, but quit them fairly quickly.
I am, however, playing World of Warcraft on a private server right now >_>

I tried Space Cowboy a few months ago. The game is basically grind, grind, grind. Starting however is quite easy as the quests will carry you on. But the further you move up in the quest ladder, the more you'll have to grind levels before you can even accept the quest.
Some quests are also not completable unless you're +10 Level form when they were given to you.
PVP is also a problem as there is a whole world at war system behind the game. This basically means if a highlevel feels like owning noobs, he can easily do so. Gets quite frustrating at times to be one hitted again and again, losing money in the process. The balance between the gears is simply wack. As in: No balance at all.
The I Gear is also the typical assassin from GuildWars... you're a paper tiger. You could do damage but you're dead in less than a second. And there are just so many of you that you won't find a party anytime soon.
All in all, if you like severe grind, if you like forced PVP - SCO is your game. If you don't play something else.
/edit:
The shop also offers in game advantages for the one willed to buy himself the edge. Someone with a credit card will allways beat someone without.

Well, the server that I happen to be playing on right now has about 100-200 people online at any given time =/
The levelling goes faster, money comes by easier, and I believe that there's an Epics merchant somewhere.

The game is installed on my downstairs computer, and my parents have guests there. I'll try to hook you up sometime later today, when they leave.
Note: The game can get very lonely in a private server.
edit - all the server info is with that computer too

Oh I know all about private servers. I've played on many on various games before, but whenever you can that'd be cool.

Well, I've been looking, but haven't found anything I like yet...
I see alot of servers have like a 100 player cap limit, which is lame, but I can understand why. But, I was curious, is the server you play on like the servers you need to P2P? I don't want to lvl up to 60 or 99 in like a day.

I like a web browser game, its online and kind of with other people but not really. You play the game alone but can contact other people and chat with them or trade with the other people (whether its items money or buffs). The game is called Kingdom of Loathing (http://www.kingdomofloathing.com). its a really good game though, its more of a satirical or parody/comedy RPG than anything.
the game is set up in a way that you can only do so much "adventuring" every day however, this is to even the game up for people who cannot play often or are new.
Its actually pretty funny, lots of pop cultural referances and stuff. You get to do more stuff in the day if you eat food and drink booze, unless you drink too much, at which point you only ever end up going on a drunken stupor until you sober up.
anyways check it out, its really fun. however its going to be down for about half an hour in about half an hour. after which it will be back up for the day. This is when they reset your drunkeness and give you more adventures and do all sorts of updating.

Although it was intentionally a PvP server, you are not forced to PvP. Hell, I've been chipping in small amounts of gameplay every few days when I have time, and have gotten to level 26 in about a month. I have not recieved any complaints about PvP at all, and I don't expect to.
